JOB SUMMARY:



As a member of the Clemson Cooperative Extension Staff, the Food Crop Horticulture Agent will collaborate with county and state personnel to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programming within the Horticulture Program Area. The Agent will provide research-based training, on-farm research support, and production assistance to growers and stakeholders in Florence, Darlington, and Chesterfield Counties and serve as a point of contact for Lancaster County, Lee County and Marlboro County. This role emphasizes community engagement, applied research, and the dissemination of practical horticultural knowledge to enhance food crop production and sustainability. Other duties as assigned. This position is open rank based on experience.

JOB DUTIES:



60% - Essential - UK43: Primary Program Management and Development- Assess and deliver educational programming based on local need within the Horticulture Program Area to adult and youth audiences within your county/counties. Educate through direct methods such as individual consultation, training classes, group meetings, tours, demonstrations, and volunteer training and/or management, including online/virtual tactics. Communicate knowledge through indirect methods such as written, audio, visual, and/or social content. Document programming impacts for targeted stakeholders.

10% - Essential - UK43: Resource Sustainability - Responsible for continuous and sustainable resource development, management, and sustainability to support Extension educational programming to include grants, contracts, legal agreements, gifts, in-kind support, sponsorships, revenue generated, local and state appropriated funds and/or other types of funding.

10% - Essential - UK43: Extension Advocacy and External Partnerships - Partner and collaborate with the Extension Advisory Council and Advocacy Committees, Program and/or Action Committees, local and state elected officials, and Extension stakeholders in planning those educational phases of the county program relevant to areas of responsibility and consistent with the total Extension program.

Support day-to-day functions of the county offices, as needed, by being present in the office, available to the staff and public, and willing to assist with general Extension inquiries.

Work on increasing base knowledge in subject matter related to program team content area. Obtain supervisory approval prior to registration and participation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Education - Bachelor's Degree - Horticulture, Plant Sciences, or closely related field.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION



Anticipated Salary Range: $39,800 - $58,200


Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.


ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL



Normal Operations


Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
