FIRE educates Americans about the importance of these inalienable rights, promotes a culture of respect for these rights, and provides the means to preserve them.

Position Description
The Graphic Designer will create print and digital design content across the organization, applying FIRE’s brand standards in collaboration with the Senior Graphic Designer.

Key duties include:
  • Print Design:
    • Design and produce print materials, including reports, pamphlets, newsletters, swag, signage, books, event materials, and flyers using Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
    • Prepare print-ready files and manage production specifications such as bleeds, trims, packaging files, and proofs.
    • Apply FIRE’s brand standards consistently, recommending refinements or exceptions when appropriate.
    • Maintain organized working files and production-ready exports in accordance with departmental practices.
  • Digital Design:
    • Design digital assets such as infographics, social media, and campaign assets, email graphics, and web images for Communications and other departments.
    • Produce assets in appropriate sizes and formats for intended channels and platforms.
    • Collaborate with the in-house Web Developer, Marketing team, and other stakeholders to meet implementation requirements.
    • Support consistent visual identity across campaigns and channels in collaboration with the Senior Graphic Designer.
  • Workflow and Collaboration:
    • Manage multiple concurrent projects, clearly communicating timelines, status updates, and review or approval needs to stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate project tracking, deadlines, and priorities in project management software (Asana).
    • Ensure all work meets brand standards and quality expectations, including accuracy, consistency, and production readiness.
    • Identify when freelance or contract support is needed to meet deadlines and communicate resourcing needs to the Senior Graphic Designer and/or VP of Communications.

This role regularly collaborates with colleagues across departments on general duties and additional specialized projects as needed. Travel is minimal. Occasional evening and weekend work should be expected. The expected start date is as soon as possible.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of professional graphic design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, demonstrated through a portfolio.
  • Strong proficiency in typography, layout, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Proficiency with current Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production standards, including print-ready file setup and screen-optimized exports.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, balancing shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work productively with colleagues and internal clients.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and well-developed quality-assurance practices.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment within established brand standards.
