Manufacturing Technical Writer

Location: Ayer, MA (On-site, potential 1 day hybrid) (local candidates only)

$40/hour: Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Ayer, MA. This role is ideal for someone who can translate complex manufacturing processes into clear, effective training materials, workflows, and job documentation. You will work closely with machine operators, engineers, and subject matter experts to develop content that improves process understanding, supports compliance, and enhances workforce performance. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with strong potential for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain work instructions, SOPs, workflows, and job descriptions for manufacturing processes.
• Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand and document production processes and standards.
• Translate shop floor activities into structured, compliance-based documentation.
• Ensure all documentation aligns with quality and regulatory standards.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Continuously improving documentation and training effectiveness based on feedback.
• Proven ability to create work instructions, SOPs, and training content in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience working directly with machine operators and shop floor teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate
