Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support capital construction projects at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. This role is critical in coordinating day-to-day field and administrative activities across complex projects in an active airport environment.

You will partner with Project Managers, contractors, consultants, and airport stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with FAA regulations and airport standards—all while minimizing disruption to ongoing airport operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor field construction activities across multiple airport projects
  • Support Project Managers in managing engineering services and ensuring compliance with design specifications, FAA requirements, and AUS standards
  • Act as a key liaison between contractors and airport stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Security, etc.)
  • Attend and lead project meetings including:
  • Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings
  • Progress meetings
  • Punch walks and inspections
  • Mock-up and constructability reviews
  • Track project schedules, including design reviews, procurement, and construction progress
  • Review contractor mobilization plans and provide recommendations prior to Notice to Proceed (NTP)
  • Assist in change management, scope development, and cost control processes
  • Review contractor QA/QC plans, logistics plans, and safety programs for compliance
  • Perform quality control checks on deliverables and field activities
  • Coordinate inspections and reporting to ensure adherence to contract documents
  • Support monthly pay application reviews and cost tracking efforts
  • Monitor environmental compliance in coordination with AUS environmental staff
  • Lead issue resolution efforts to mitigate impacts to airport operations and project schedules

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • (Experience may substitute for education up to 4 years)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, airport safety standards, and environmental compliance
  • Experience working in active or high-risk operational environments

Preferred:

  • Prior experience on airport or airside construction projects
  • Familiarity with City of Austin (COA) processes and coordination
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital improvement programs
