Project Coordinator

About NorthWind Partners

NorthWind Partners is a Top 50 board and executive search, selection, assessment, and development firm with over a century and a half of cumulative experience working with investors, boards, and enterprise leaders across private equity, business services, healthcare, manufacturing and industrials, and technology.

NorthWind is currently seeking a Project Coordinator to fulfill a critical infrastructure position that will enable the firm to continue its unmatched track record of successful retained search execution with clients. This key team member will join a highly collegial organization that promotes a culture of open-handed collaboration and empowers every level of the firm with genuine mentorship. The Project Coordinator role will report to the Director of Operations and work directly with colleagues across the firm on a project basis to participate in all facets of the business. This role will also provide access to critical client meetings.

NorthWind is one of very few lock-step partnerships in the executive advisory space that maintains a defined path to becoming an equity partner, where members share equivalently in the profitability and success of the firm. We believe in growing our own leaders. NorthWind is committed to recognizing potential, cultivating professional abilities, and rewarding success. We strive to exhibit a culture of servant leadership that fosters loyalty and trust among team members. NorthWind is intentionally designed as a lock-step partnership to provide a path to ownership participation for high-performing team members. Life is too short to spend in an environment where the incentive structure caters to self-preservation by design. Additionally, NorthWind has established a standalone investment entity to offer team members an opportunity to invest and co-invest alongside the firm's private equity clients, as well as participate in other alternative investment opportunities to which they might not otherwise have access.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities and opportunities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Act as the Project Coordinator for a broad array of projects and manage all administrative and operational details of assigned engagements
  2. Assist with the formatting, editing, and evaluation of various documents and documentation to be shared and tracked internally and externally, including client-facing and expense reports as well as internal research roadmaps
  3. Work independently to manage executive-level meetings, calendars, and documents; travel logistics; and professional correspondence
  4. Manage additional responsibilities as needed

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following specific qualifications and experiences:

  1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or related field and/or equivalent experience
  2. Ability to manage complex travel schedules and agendas in a services-based organization
  3. Proven ability to interact effectively and professionally with executives from organizations of all sizes
  4. Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities while supporting multiple executives and responsibilities
  5. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required; technologically savvy with strong proficiency across all types of internet technologies
  6. Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  7. Strong ethical standards and background required
  8. Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision while multitasking with strong attention to detail and exceptional time management skills
  9. Excellent professional-level verbal and written communication skills required
  10. Friendly and professional appearance and demeanor with a positive attitude and willingness to lead and partner with other staff members while exceeding expectations in supporting team objectives

Characteristics Required for Success and Advancement

The ideal candidate must be self-confident, self-motivated, resourceful, relational, and able to balance task and project orientation depending upon a given scenario. Every candidate NorthWind will consider must be a coachable, flexible individual with tremendous work ethic who can accomplish the tasks and targets set before them.

A bias for action in an engaging and relational manner, along with an orientation toward solving rather than merely identifying problems, is a preferred characteristic of the ideal candidate.

The candidate must exhibit proven professional skills along with personal characteristics necessary for success in professional services. They must also have a demonstrated track record of working effectively in a collaborative organization, as NorthWind is a lock-step partnership that promotes and incentivizes team-based performance.

Key factors include sound business judgment, keen conceptual skills, intellectual discipline, self-confidence, imagination, and well-developed communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate should possess the personal ambition to play a role in the growth and success of a firm with a strong heritage for high-quality and responsive service to its clients.

The successful candidate should have a desire to understand the full life-cycle processes utilized within a relationship-driven boutique and develop a general knowledge base around the industries and markets where we provide services.

With full accountability for results, they must be willing to exert themselves over sustained periods of time to accomplish their professional and personal goals while maintaining a strong level of mutual respect for peers, colleagues, and direct reports.
