Job Summary:

The SMT Operator I is responsible for set-up, operation and maintenance of equipment in support of Printed Circuit Board Assembly processes and procedures

Here's what you'll get:

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 Hourly + 10% shift differential for 2nd shift

Schedule

1 st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
2 nd Shift (3:30 PM - 11:30 PM)

Length: Temp to direct.

Here's what you'd do:

  • The SMT Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment to support the client's Printed Circuit Board Assembly processes and procedures. 
  • Reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain screen printers, glue machines, reflow ovens, SMT placement machines, stencil cleaners, conveyors, and other equipment used in the assembly of Printed Circuit Boards.
  • Ensure the daily build plan is met in accordance with the production planner's requirements.
  • Interface with complex machine hardware and software.
  • Identify and report defective components.
  • Control, document, and process non-conforming material.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect own work to ensure accuracy and integrity of work performed.
  • Participate in the development of new product introduction (NPI) by assisting in creating, debugging, and setting up programs; and train new operators to perform NPI as needed.
  • Ensure product meets established workmanship standards.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and maintain data logs.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area and the surrounding workspace.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of work-in-process.

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment (Preferably electronic manufacturing)
  • Minimum 1 year of e xperience in SMT equipment operation

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience with NPI.
  • IPC-A-610 Certified.
  • ESD Training.
  • Knowledge of component identification and nomenclature. 
  • Knowledge of component handling, including ESD requirements.
  • Basic computer skills, problem-solving, and workstation skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Capable of performing job functions utilizing written procedures, verbal instructions, and visual aids.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and IPC-610 requirements.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
